Fundraising costume disco for school

The Friends of St John's Meads school organised a fundraising Retro Fest Disco at Bibendum, which was well attended by both parents and friends of the children.

Guests, many in costume, were greeted with a cocktail before dancing the night away.

Many national and local companies, including several traders in Meads Street, supported the event by supplying gifts and donations, which were sold on the night through a Balloon Sale.

Details of the gift were inserted into helium balloons and guests were required to choose and burst a balloon to receive their prize.

All the money raised for this event will be going towards funding the building of a sports pavilion on the school field which currently lacks any facilities for the children.

With a massive 30,000 to raise, many more events are being planned by the friends.

Special thanks were given to Ian Whittle for providing us with excellent music, staff at Bibendum and to Second Sight in Meads for the fantastic and outrageously funky outfits.
