Fundraising monkey’s bike ride
A DETERMINED fundraiser will tackle a 70-mile cycle ride dressed in a monkey suit to raise cash for a charity fighting poverty in Kenya.
Rob Higgins, 23, of Holmesdale Road, leads a group of five local men on a madcap journey from Bexhill seafront to Brighton Pier and back again on March 17. He is appealing for generous locals to boost his fundraising drive.
“We really need all the help we can get,” said Rob, a former Bexhill College student who now works for Autism Sussex, a charity based in Battle.
“The charity does such amazing work to empower communities in Kenya. The money we raise will be used for sustainable development and to train youngsters out there.”
Jordan Herbert, Rich Lown, Marc Barden and Rich Ferguson, who all live in and around Bexhill, will don monkey suits with Rob for the journey. The group aim to raise £1,500 for Team Kenya, who have fought poverty in Africa for many years.
At the end of March, Rob will fly out to volunteer with a community in Western Kenya. He will provide sports and educational programmes for vulnerable youngsters.
