High school takes another forward step
BEXHILL High School is one step closer to becoming an academy.
The board of governors voted to hold a six-week consultation as to whether this should happen, and this begins on Monday.
Executive principal Mike Conn told the Observer: “The governors resolved at their meeting to commence the consultation process so they can consider whether to become an academy or not.”
An academy is a state-maintained, all-ability school, perhaps working with outside sponsors with freedom from local authority control.
Mr Conn said relevant documents and information would be made available to parents and other stake-holders detailing the pros and cons of this possible development and telling them how to make their views known to governors for consideration in decision-making.
“Anyone can have their say,” he said.
“The important thing to recognise is that this consultation process has begun.”
