I'll conquer fears to help doctors who battled for my little twins

A WOMAN who lost her premature twins is planning a skydive to raise funds for charities which helped her during the ordeal.

Ceris Earl, 26, and her husband Adam, of Whitley Road, Eastbourne lost babies Kieran and Chloe after they were born 16 weeks premature.

The twins, who were conceived through IVF, were born on November 20 at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings and then transferred to the Trevor Mann baby unit at Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton.

Ceris said, "When we first saw them it was an unbelievable shock and it broke our hearts.

"They were hooked up to so many machines doing so many different things for them. They were so tiny, so beautiful and so fragile."

Sadly Kieran died 25 hours after he was born and Chloe died five weeks later.

Ceris and Adam have praised staff at Trevor Mann and thanked Ronald McDonald House which provided accommodation near the hospital for the couple.

Now Ceris is raising money for the two charities with a tandem skydive in Ashford, Kent, on July 11.

Ceris said, "I am scared of heights but this is something I have always wanted to do.

"I am looking forward to it but I know I will be really nervous on the day."

Ceris is hoping to raise more than 1,000 to help other families with premature babies.

"If it wasn't for the care the twins received at Trevor Mann we wouldn't have had the time we did have with them," she said.

"During our time in the unit we saw several babies die. But the staff work so hard to help them and need all the money they can get to help buy equipment. It doesn't come cheap – one incubator costs 25,000."

Ceris and Adam were pleased to stay at Ronald McDonald House which is run as a charity and free for families with sick children in hospital.

Ceris said, "If it wasn't for Ronald MacDonald House we would not have been near our daughter at all times, and for that we will always be grateful."
