Jean and Joy rewarded for years of fundraising
TWO outstanding local fundraisers have been presented with July's Eastbourne Resident of the Month Award.
With 95 years of dedicated voluntary service between them, Jean Bland and Joy Lambert have made a massive contribution to work of Cancer Research UK.
Jean, 79, and Joy, 88, have worked in the local Cancer Research shop, helped organise countless events, coffee mornings and beetle drives and even raised money while on holiday.
The well-known duo are no strangers to awards. The pair were made Honorary Fellows at Cancer Research UK's Flame of Hope awards in June, in recognition of their loyalty and dedication.
The Resident of the Month Award is sponsored by Advanta Chartered Accountants and the Eastbourne Herald.
Mike Cottingham, director at Advanta, presented Jean and Joy with a certificate this week to recognise the incredible roles they have played in the voluntary sector.
Mike said, "It's clear that Jean and Joy are a formidable team and their enthusiasm and commitment to raising money for Cancer Research UK is unstinting.
"They are extremely deserving winners of the Resident of the Month award - Eastbourne and Cancer Research are lucky to have two such wonderful local volunteers."
A complimentary meal for two at Ridgways Restaurant in Meads awaits Jean and Joy. To nominate someone you think deserves recognition please call 01323 411222 or email info@advanta-ca.com
