Jordan's night out

A fundraising evening for Jordan Whitewood-Neal is to be held next Saturday at Bexhill Amateur Athletic club.

The 15 year old suffers Proteus Syndrome and is currently recovering from amputation of his legs.

He's been been through months of surgery, physiotherapy and care at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Middlesex - so if anyone's entitled to a good night out, it's got to be Jordan and his family - mum Tracey, dad Dean and brother Kai.

But before then Jordan is due to start rehabilitation, on Monday March 15, when he will start getting used to the prosthetic limbs he has been fitted for.

Tracey told the Observer: "He is doing fine. He is not back at school yet because he doesn't feel comfortable about doing that yet, so he has been doing his work at home. He's had the cast made at hospital and they wrapped his legs up in clingfilm, put the plaster round to make the moulds...and then on the 15th we are going back to the RNOH for rehabilitation for four weeks.

"But Jordan is fine – he is very positive and he is glad he's had it done.

"He is quite impatient and raring to go and get the new legs to walk on. He wants to get up again, he is fed up with sitting. He is just raring to go."

Adam Taylor was inspired to raise money for Jordan and his family to help them with the demands of treatment, care and equipment they need.

Tickets are still available for what is promised to be a great night out with live bands, raffle and family fun, and can be bought at front office at the Bexhill Observer, by emailing on adam@go-walkabout.com, or drop by Adam's office at 26A Reginald Road.
