King Offa junction to close for four nights for road-works

KING Offa Way-Dorset Road junction will be closed for four nights for re-surfacing work, the Highways Agency warned this week.

The agency is also postponing the replacement of the King Offa Way-Dorset Road traffic lights.

In a press statement on Monday, the agency said:

"From Monday,July 21, there will be four overnight closures whilst high friction surfacing is applied at Dorset Road, A259 De La Warr Road and King Offa Way.

"The work to install new traffic signals at the junction have been postponed until the autumn, when the busy summer period is over.

"Until then the existing traffic signals will remain in place."

Route performance manager Ing Fischer said: "Although we have postponed the work on the traffic signals, the high friction surfacing is going ahead as it will provide additional safety benefits for road users ahead of the summer holidays.

"These works are taking place overnight to minimise disruption to drivers. We would ask that drivers who are travelling in the evenings leave extra time for their journeys whilst the diversion routes are in place."

The works will take place as follows:

* Monday 21: Dorset Road North

* Tuesday 22: A259 De La Warr left turn exit slip and De La Warr westbound

* Wednesday 23: Dorset Road South and King Offa eastbound

* Thursday 24: De La Warr Road
