'Know Your Numbers! Week' offers free blood pressure checks

EASTBOURNE residents are being asked to check their blood pressure by the Blood Pressure Association and part of its 'Know Your Numbers! Week' between September 13 and 19.

Health professionals across Eastbourne are taking part in the event and will be offering free blood pressure checks at a variety of convenient venues in and around the town.

During last year's Know your Numbers! Week, 28 per cent of people tested in East Sussex had high blood pressure readings.

Mike Rich, executive director of UK charity the Blood Pressure Association, said, "One in three UK adults have high blood pressure, yet only a quarter know their blood pressure numbers.

"This ignorance is causing death and disability so that's why we're asking the UK public 'Are you gambling with your health?'

"We want everyone to lower their odds of stroke and heart attack, by having their free blood pressure check this Know your Numbers! Week."

Residents can test their blood pressure during opening hours at Day Lewis, 2 Furness Road, Eastbourne, Newman Pharmacy, 82, Seaside, Eastbourne, Day Lewis, 10 Freshwater Square, Willingdon, or Asda Pharmacy, The Crumbles, Pevensey Bay Road.
