Marathon Mike is under starter's orders
A FORMER sprinter from Meads will be racing out of the starting blocks for the first Brighton Marathon.
Father-of-four Mike Ovens, 47, ran in the same combined services relay team as ex-Olympic medallist Kris Akabussi during a 25-year career in the Armed Forces.
Mike, pictured left, runs for the Hailsham Harriers and has his own fitness business, The Running Inn, with wife Fiona, also a marathon runner, and has been pounding the streets of Eastbourne in preparation for the inaugural 26-mile event on April 18.
He is hoping to raise 2,000 for the Sussex Air Ambulance.
