MP praises the efforts of Bexhill’s Town Team

GREG Barker, MP Bexhill & Battle, has shown his support for the people taking charge of smartening up Bexhill and making it an even better place to live.

Greg met Hillary Randall and Patrick Stappleton of the Bexhill Town Team for an update on the team’s plans for reinvigorating the town centre.

Greg has fully supported the town team since he chaired their inaugural meeting last September.

He was interested to learn more of their initiative to tidy up the town and business premises.

The town team has drawn up a voluntary code of practice for landlords and letting agents to encourage them to keep empty premises in good order and allow local entrepreneurs to use them for ‘pop up shops’ on a short term basis.

Greg said: “I am hugely impressed with the new burst of energy and creative ideas that the Town Team are bringing to the centre of Bexhill.

“In only a matter of months since this new group was formed, they are making a real difference to our town. Bexhill is very lucky to have committed local residents and businesses like this who are prepared to give up their time to make a real difference and I am delighted to be working closely with them on a range of new ideas for our town.”

The initiative has already lead to a clean-up of the unused cinema foyer in Western Road.
