One of Bexhill’s largest primary schools has a new headteacher to lead it forward in 2013 - Angela Hamill took up her role this week.

Mrs Hamill described it as “a fabulous and popular” school. She was Acting Head last year and is “delighted” to have been appointed as permanent head. She said: “I am looking forward to working with everyone to further develop the school and to provide stability and a clear sense of direction. Together with children, staff, parents and governors, we will strive to ensure our children have the best opportunities, make the most of every day and learn within a loving, Christian, school family.”

Mrs Hamill thanked children, parents and staff for the “very warm welcome” she received. Paul Plim, Chair of Governors, added: “The Governing Body has great pleasure in welcoming Mrs Hamill to the Headship of St Peter and St Paul Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School. We have had the great fortune to have worked with Mrs Hamill during 2012 when she stepped in as Acting Head. This time we appointed Mrs Hamill as our permanent Head Teacher; a position that has its roots with the opening of St Peter’s CE School for boys in Holliers Hill in 1853 and before that with the use of the Chantry Chapel of St Peter’s Church for a school house between 1589-1609. The Governing Body looks forward to a great future into the 21st century, with high hopes for our school under Mrs Hamill’s leadership.”
