NHS Award for Patient Monitoring Manager

AN EAST Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust Patient Monitoring Manager has won an award for developing a patient tracking system.

Michael Watson has won the trust's monthly staff award in recognition for his work in the patient tracking system which he developed from scratch.

It has now become a fundamental instrument for both the trust and the local Primary Care Trusts to monitor the flow of patients through the healthcare system.

Michael Watson, Patient Monitoring Manager is responsible for the trust's cancer & 18 weeks tracking team. The system he developed was commended recently as "an excellent model" by the 18 week Intensive Support Team from the Department of Health.

Jayne Black, Deputy Director of Operations, who nominate Michael said, "Michael is an extremely valuablemember of the management team overseeing the flow of cancer patients & ensuring patients are seen within 18 weeks.

"He has formulated and delivered training sessions forall grades of staff helping to ensure all information is captured correctly and efficiently."

East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust is responsible for the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards, and Eastbourne District General Hospital.

The trust also provides services at Bexhill Hospital, Crowborough Birthing Unit, Uckfield Community Hospital, Lewes Victoria Hospital and Rye Memorial Care Centre.
