Ninfield taps back on after supply cut
WATER supplies to some 450 properties around Ninfield returned to normal this week following problems with South East Water’s pumps at the reservoir in Standard Hill.
These happened following power cuts in the Bexhill area during March 15/16.
Although the company’s generators began working as expected, further complications resulted in pumps being unable to move water around the pipeline network both to the reservoir and out to customer taps. Simon Robertson, of South East Water, said: “Our technicians worked extremely hard to restart the pumps and restore supplies to customers as quickly as possible, unfortunately, due to the type of fault the repair took longer than initially anticipated.
I would like to apologise to our customers for the prolonged time they were without water and for the subsequent inconvenience this caused. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank The Blacksmith’s Inn for allowing us to place the temporary supply of water bottles in their car park.” Problems with the water pumps began at approximately 1.30am on Sunday.
