Pub manager pushes the pedals to aid Meningitis Trust
A LOCAL publican is cycling from London to Paris to raise money for the Meningitis Trust - a charity which has a special significance for him.
Danny Keane, 26, is manager of the Star Inn, Norman’s Bay, and two years ago shared the grief of two of his closest friends when they lost their baby son to the bacterial brain disease.
The experience has prompted him to get into training for the cross-Channel challenge, taking place from June 5 to 9.
Danny said: “ In 2010 my friends’ son, George Anthony Lyttle, lost his life to meningitis when he was just three weeks old.
“He touched our lives in a big way in such a short time. The Meningitis Trust was there for my friends and their families when they were going through such a tough time, and I felt this would be a great way to raise money for a great charity.”
Danny, who hopes to raise £1, 500, can be sponsored by visiting: www.doitforcharity.com/dannyK.
He has also organised a charity soccer match between Bexhill Rowing Club and friends next Friday, March 8, and a meat raffle at the Star Inn on Mother’s Day.
