Rother promises zero tolerance on dogs’ mess

DOG owners are warned if they fail to clear up after their pets they will face a fine.

Rother officers are launching an operation to get Bexhill’s streets clean for the summer and are promising a zero-tolerance policy with people caught allowing their dogs to foul without clearing it up.

The seafront will be given special attention by the campaign, especially on East and West Parade.

The council is also reminding residents that between May and September dogs should be kept on a lead on the Metropole Lawns.

Rother District Council member for tourism, Cllr Jonathan Johnson, said: “The majority of dog owners behave impeccably and enjoy the seafront alongside our many other residents and visitors.

“However it is not acceptable that a handful should ruin it for everyone else with this disgusting refusal to clear up after their dog.

“There really are no excuses and people will be fined without hesitation if they are caught. It damages the street-scene of a beautiful town and is totally unhygienic.”
