Rother residents invited to have their say on crime

ROTHER residents are being invited to have their say on crime and safety in the neighbourhood.

The survey, organised by the Safer Rother Partnership, is open to anyone who lives within the Rother area. They want to know what residents think about crime and anti-social behaviour in the local area, and say the results will influence their actions to make the area a safer place to be.

Chief Inspector Heather Keating, chair of the Safer Rother Partnership, said:

"Last autumn we ran a community safety survey with our colleagues across East Sussex. The results helped us to gain a greater understanding of the issues affecting local people, and have influenced our activity.

"In just the last couple of weeks we have been speaking to residents, businesses and visitors in the areas identified by the autumn survey as places where people feel less safe. Over the next few weeks we will be working in partnership to tackle the issues that residents have told us most matter to them."

The five East Sussex Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnerships – for Rother, Hastings, Wealden, Eastbourne and Lewes – have worked with East Sussex County Council's Safer Communities Team to run the survey across the county. T

his enables them to collect information from across East Sussex, which will be used by all agencies in the East Sussex Safer Communities Partnership, including Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, borough/district councils and many others.

Flyers and posters are being distributed across Rother to promote the survey, which can be found online at:

www.eastsussex.gov.uk/safetysurvey.

It can also be accessed via computers at libraries across East Sussex free-of-charge.

Paper copies can be obtained by calling (01323) 466525.
