A BEXHILL specialist school has raised more than £700 to help fund running improvements and has more events in the pipeline.

St Mary’s School, in Wrestwood Road, hosted its third and largest bingo and quiz night and raise £728.10 for children with severe communication disabilities and other complex needs.

Amy’s Army, a team which included two of St Mary’s nurses, won the quiz for the second time running and will be returning again on the July 12 to defend their title.

More than 70 people from the local community came out to support the evening, and despite the competitiveness of the activities a lot of fun was had by all.

Dr Sharon Menghini, the new chief executive at St Mary’s, said: “I was delighted that so many of our friends came out so support us with the quiz and bingo, which is proving ever more popular.

“The money that was raised through this community event will be spent on redecorating and furnishing the children’s bedrooms, which will make a real difference to the young people at St

Mary’s. Keeping the residences modern and homely is an on-going fundraising

project for us, and every donation helps.”

Bookings are now being taken for the next quiz and bingo night on July 12.

Tickets are on sale for £7.50 per person which will include a choice of curry or ploughman’s and apple pie for dessert. The cost for a team of six is £42.00.

Bingo cards can be purchased on the evening for £1.00 per book.

Call Sue Munn on 01424 730740 or email adm@st-marys.bexhill.sch.uk for further details or to book your team. During the evening there will also be a raffle.
