Speed cheat gets suspended sentence
A MAN who claimed to be in South Wales when he was clocked speeding near his home in Peacehaven was handed a suspended sentence.
David King of Sunview Avenue, Peacehaven pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice after he tried to evade the 60 speeding fine.
He was clocked doing 38 mph in a 30mph zone on the A259 near Peacehaven in June 2008.
He claimed he'd picked up a hire car in Uckfield at 4.13pm on Friday June 6 and driven 170 miles to South Wales, returning on the Sunday.
But the car activated the speed camera at 7.15pm and he was shown not to have left until Saturday, returning the same day.
