Stolen medication could kill, police warn
POLICE yesterday issued an urgent warning that medication stolen in a sneak-in burglary at Sidley could kill if it falls into the wrong hands.
A thief who took advantage of the fact that the back door was open to allow the householder's dog access to the garden crept into a property at Cumberland Road on Tuesday morning and made off with medication found in the kitchen.
But the stolen drugs not only included Tamazepam but OxyContin, an ultra-strong painkiller.
Police say 14 of the OxyContin tablets were of the unusually large 80 mg dosage - 20mg is the norm.
The thief also made off with 148 of the 20mg version of the tablets.
A police spokesman said: "These tablets are extremely dangerous in the wrong hands and could kill.
"We need to get the message out to the public to say that if anyone finds these tablets they should take them immediately to the police station, a pharmacy or a doctor's surgery.
