Thieves target teddy bear's picnic

Heartless thieves targeted a children's fundraising event in Sedlescombe on Monday.

Two mobile phones were stolen belonging to volunteers helping at Sedlescombe Pre-School's teddy bears picnic.

Whilst children and bears were enjoying the fun, the phones were taken from a table in the Sedlescombe Sports Pavilion, sometime before 4pm.

One of the stolen items was a Sony Ericsson Vivaz, a touch screen phone worth 280, and the second was a light pink coloured Nokia, worth around 30.

Sergeant Dan Russell, of Battle police, said: "I believe that there are people out there who know who stole these phones.

"I will be grateful for those with information to come forward, particularly as these thefts occurred at a charity event for the pre-school.

"Clearly these suspects appear not to have a conscience."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999.
