Top state school in the county for GCSE results
St Richard’s Catholic College has maintained its record as a top state school with GCSE results for summer 2012.
Some 198 pupils achieved a 75% pass rate in five A*-C grades in subjects including English and maths, with 52% gaining their baccalaureate, with an average point score of 44.
This compares locally with Bexhill High’s 300 pupils gaining 48% A*-C grades including English and maths, and Claverham, with 234 pupils achieving 74%.
Head teacher Doreen Cronin said: “Congratulations to pupils and staff for their endeavours to achieve 75% 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths in this year’s GCSE results, once again placing St Richard’s CC as the top state school in the County. We are particularly pleased that our value added remains high and places us in the top 20% of schools nationally. It highlights that the pupils concerned made exceptional progress compared to their starting point at the school. We are also pleased that our results for the EBacc qualification at 52% A*-C (well above county and national average) are on the increase demonstrating our curriculum is broad and balanced.”
