Veterans send off £3,000 plus to Help For Heroes

A concerted fundraising effort has paid dividends for Bexhill-on-Sea Veteran's Association.

A cheque for 1,000 was presented to the group by John and Dawn Buckingham of the Bull Inn on Bexhill Road.

This money will go towards Help for Heroes.

Chris Gadsden of the Association said : "A large thank you goes to John, Dawn and their Patrons for their undying dedication to the cause. Yes, The Bull Inn done it again."

There was a collection back in February for Help for Heroes at Sainsbury's, when a total of 726 was achieved and the group's thanks go to staff and all the shoppers who donated generously, and to all those who helped raise 500 at the Waterfront.

On St George's Day the Association held a collection day at Bexhill Railway Station when 798 was raised.

Chris thanked member Tom Craggs "for all the hard work he and his team put into this event, and of course all those that gave to the cause".

All of which means a total of 3024 will be finding its way to Help for Heroes, the charity which looks after those coming home wounded and disabled.
