We escape worst of snow chaos
OUR corner of the South East managed to avoid the brunt of the big freeze with no significant snowfall overnight.
The forecast for today is sleet.
However, the Met Office is predicting heavy snowfalls in the South East corner on Sunday morning and ice remains a real problem with slippery roads in rural areas and some pavements remaining hazardous.
Both Southern and South Eastern are expecting to run a normal service today, although passengers still face disruption due to major engineering works and a bus shuttle service is operating between Brighton and Hastings today and Sunday.
East Sussex County Council say gritters have been working around the clock to keep the roads clear.
There are stil flight delays at Heathrow due to the backlog of Friday’s services when more than 400 flights were cancelled.
Eurostar reports delays of up to 30 minutes.
