Wheels in motion for changes on East Coastway stations

RUMOURS that 25 rail workers along the Southern East Coast network are to loose their jobs has been refuted by Southern Rail.

An anonymous email to the Bexhill Observer stated that around 25 jobs are to go along the Southern East Coast line - which stretches from Ashford to Brighton and includes Rye, Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne and Lewes stations.

However, a spokesman for Southern Rail said that, following a review, changes are planned but job losses are not amongst them.

He said: “We have just completed a station-by-station review on the East Coastway to determine how we can deploy staff so that we can offer the best customer service possible.

“We are not in a position to be able to make public what these changes will be as we are talking to our staff, but what we can say is that there are no plans to lose anyone from our business as a result of the review.”
