Woman accused of stabbing partner told to stay out of Battle

A mother-of-five, who allegedly stabbed her estranged partner with a knife during a heated row, has been ordered to stay out of Battle after having her bail conditions relaxed.

Catherine Scriven, 35, was charged with wounding following the incident in Battle Road, Hastings, on November 1.

Scriven, who so far has not entered a plea, lived in Sidley Street in Bexhill before the incident.

But she was banned from entering Sussex and ordered to stay with her mother at an address in Orpington, Kent, as part of her bail conditions.

But Scriven's solicitor was in court last week to ask for the bail conditions to be changed, so Scriven could move back into her home after becoming estranged from her mother.

Aiden Harvey, defending, told magistrates that the defendant and Scott Scriven, who lives in Battle, had five children, two of which were hers from a previous relationship.

He added: "The application is so she can go home and see the children and keep out of Battle."

Magistrates agreed to alter Scriven's bail conditions.

She must not contact Scott Scriven directly or indirectly or enter Battle.

The case will return to court on December 15.
