MP Huw Merriman has nominated The Shiplu Tandoori in Bexhill for the Tiffin Cup 2015 - awarded by members of parliament to the best Southern Asian restaurant in the country.
MPs have for the 10th year running, been asked to nominate a restaurant in the UK in this mouth watering competition. Last year 94 restaurants were nominated from around the country.
The Tiffin Cup is awarded every year by the Tiffin Club of MPs, formed in 2006.
The aim is not only to applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but to raise money for charity. This year the competition is in aid of the charity ‘World Vision’.
The Grand final of the Tiffin Cup is to be held in the House of Commons on Tuesday October 27
Huw Merriman said “I am delighted the Shiplu nomination has been accepted for this year’s Tiffin Cup.
Having been recently elected, I was keen to highlight the quality of the Shiplu’s cuisine as well as the welcome and encouragement which the team have given me in my short time in office.
“This is such a prestigious competition and I look forward to welcoming them to the House of Commons should they win their regional heat.
“I am sure that their many customers will be rooting for the Shiplu.”
