Rother District Council has been asked to act as an ‘accountable body’ for Bexhill Hive and The Work People’s applications for £70,000 each from a £2.5m communities fund.

Bexhill Hive, a community hub based in the former Job Centre in St Leonards Road, wants to spend the money on a three day weekly drop in advice centre for young adults and a variety of workshops.

The Works People plan to fund a new careers and employment centre in Bexhill with the money, particularly tackling low skills and worklessness.

But the applications need a local authority act as a guarantor and monitor the projects until 2020 if they are successful, and both have asked for Rother to do it.

The council’s cabinet will discuss the requests at its meeting on Monday morning (February 13).
