Bexhill supermarket responds to closure rumours

A supermarket giant has responded to rumours that it is preparing to close its Bexhill store.

A reader contacted the Observer today (October 28) to say they understood Tesco at the Ravenside Retail Park was set to close in two years, with the chain planning to expand its Hastings branch.

They added that a source in Tesco had told them the store’s lease was coming to an end in two year’s time.

However a spokesperson for the supermarket giant has dismissed the rumours.

She told the Observer: “I can confirm that there is no truth in this.”

In April Tesco scrapped 24 hour opening at the Bexhill branch.

Hastings Tesco Extra remains a 24 hour operation.
