An item which could be an unexploded bomb has been discovered in Bexhill this afternoon (June 10).

It was spotted on the beach by the Sovereign Light Cafe, but was covered by the tide before the object could be identified.

Bexhill Coastguard is to return to the site during the next low tide at midnight to inspect the item.

The beach has not been closed and there is not believed to be any risk to the public.
