A group of travellers, who pitched up on Bexhill Down on Tuesday night, have been served with a notice to leave the site.
This afternoon (Thursday May 28) Sussex Police presented the group with a Section 61 notice, ordering them to leave by 9am tomorrow morning (Friday).
Around a dozen caravans are currently parked up on the football and cricket pitches.
Some neighbours have complained about the noise coming from the site, including noise from generators running past midnight.
The land is owned by Rother District Council.
A council spokesperson said: “Rother District Council officers visited the site on Wednesday with police and the traveller liaison officer at East Sussex County Council.
“Welfare checks were carried out and the travellers were asked to leave.
“As soon as the site is clear we will have access to clear waste and repair any damage caused.
“The county council provides a modern transit site for gypsies and travellers at Lewes and Rother District Council contributes towards the maintenance costs of this site.”
