PUBLISHER Stuart Baillie has just undertaken a buy-out of a specialist national newspaper, thanks to the help of two Hastings businesses.
Stuart, of Sedlescombe Road North, and his colleague Kerry Williamson have recently bought out the company that publishes the paper they worked for, Ashford-based Dog World.
With the help of Hastings based accountants and business advisers Ashdown Hurrey, and Hastings solicitors Gaby Hardwicke, they completed the management buyout, after Stuart, 46, had been editor of the title since 2003.
With 60,000 readers every week, Dog World has been running for more than 100 years and employs nearly 40 people, and has a readership of devoted dog owners.
The paper covers the UK dog show scene in detail, carrying the results and photographs from the dozens of dog shows going on across the country every week.
Father-of-three Stuart has 25 years experience of the newspaper and publishing business at every level of the industry.
In his time with Dog World he has transformed the style of the newspaper, modernised its design and layout, and streamlined production processes.
He said: "Kerry and I have exciting and ambitious plans to take the paper to a new generation of readers and to employ the latest technologies to ensure that all the news that Dog World readers want is delivered to them as quickly as possible and plan significant investment in the business in the coming year."
