Fearing someone may be trapped in the vehicles, firefighters from Hastings were called to Watermill Lane shortly before 10.30am.

Fortunately no one needed to be cut free, but fire crews remained on the scene to wash oil off the road.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police told the Observer that some people had sustained minor injuries in the crash.

It is not yet known how many people were hurt.
