On Wednesday January 15 35 members of the Bexhill Club of Past Rotarian Ladies celebrated their 35th year since formation in 1979; the event took place at the Northern Hotel, Sea Road, where the club has met in continuity.

The hotel provided a first class tea to match the occasion. Evelyn Clarke who was the founder president in 1979 was present

to cut the rather special cake, made by club member Susan Yearwood, ably assisted by the 2013/14 President Val Willis. Evelyn gave a vote of thanks for the mutual support of the membership, which is the continuing strength of the club in promoting fellowship and companionship, which has always been the basic principal of Past Rotary and raised a glass to toast the continuing health and strength of the club.

The Bexhill Club of Past Rotarian Ladies meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 2.30pm, where they are entertained with a programme of interesting speakers and to socialise, while partaking of afternoon tea. There is also a men’s Past Rotary Club, the membership comprising of those who have been a member of a Rotary Club and now wish to have a less committed obligation.

They also meet at the Northern Hotel on the first Wednesday of each month.

There are a number of occasions on which the two clubs meet together, particularly in regard to annual lunches, which are most often held at the Cooden Beach Golf Club.
