Celebrity opening for Bexhill classic car show

The 11th anniversary of Bexhill 100 Motoring Club’s Classic & Custom Car Show will be opened by TV host Mike Brewer.

The co-host of Wheeler Dealers with Edd China is also a journalist, producer, campaigner, motoring enthusiast and family man.

The car show at the Polegrove on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, will showcase a wide variety of classic motors as well as stalls and refreshments.

A club spokesman said: “In previous years, our visitors say how well organised and entertaining the show is - there is always something going on throughout the day.

“Even non-car enthusiasts tell us how much they enjoy themselves, and our show committee all hope that everyone who visits will enjoy a day to remember.

“The club have raised more than £40,000 for charitable causes in the last 10 years and we hope the community of Bexhill will support us again this year, as we continue to put on a great show, whilst raising money for local causes.

“Bexhill 100 Motoring Club would like to thank all the people who have supported us in the last 10 years, and hope that this year’s Show will provide a wonderful day out for all who come.”

There is a wide variety of around 500 cars, and some motorbikes, on show including a 1915 Hudson 6/40 (reported to be a barn find from the US which has been possibly off road since 1919 until 1989); a 1933 Riley Nine – designed by the Earl of March; a 1970 Gilbern T11 Prototype and a 1973 Russian Gaz Volga which was originally designed mainly for the government security service, KGB and high rank members of the Communist Party.

A variety of trade stands will also be there, ranging from Auto Jumble to tempting catering stalls during the day.

International violinist Caroliolina and singers The Starlite Duo will provide the entertainment plus a birds of prey demonstration from 1066 Falconry, bouncy castles and a small go-karting track.

This year’s show will support Kent, Surey & East Sussex Air Ambulance, Demelza Children’s Hospice, The Golden Marigold Club, St Michael’s Hospice.
