The Bank Holiday weekend sees the 26th annual Festival of Flowers at Christchurch Methodist Church in Springfield Road, Bexhill.

Always a popular event, which attracts up to a thousand visitors, the theme will be ‘An Invitation to the Dance’ and the displays will illustrate different styles of dancing from ballet to Morris dancing, Irish to ice skating. The Festival is open on Saturday and Monday, May 24 and 26 from 10-4.30pm and there will be lunches, cream teas, stalls, competitions and much more. On Sunday opening times are 2-4.30pm when cream teas will be served. Also on Sunday there will be celebration services at 10.30am and 6pm both led by Barry Turnwell. The evening will take the form of a ‘Songs of Praise’.

While there is no charge for entry donations will be welcome and this year funds will support The Beachy Head Chaplaincy, East Sussex Disability Association and on going Church projects. Visitors will see the new roof on the hall area and a grant has been received from Veolia Environmental Trust to help towards the cost. The Festival is organised by the members of the church Ladies Supper Club. All are welcome to come and both the church and Centenary House are just a short distance from Bexhill Hospital.
