Cool cats this way

Preview: Soul-X-Press at Venuu, April 30

It's the question that has plagued mankind for decades – what music would animals listen to?

Hippos like dirt and loud noises so it would be thrash metal for them, the fabulously flamboyant flamingoes would be all over some disco, and sloths, which are dumb and dim-witted, would kick back to some James Blunt.

But cats and soul music? That's an outlandish combination.

Nevertheless next Friday the brilliant Soul-X-Press are bringing their Blues Brothers show to Venuu for a night of up-tempo thrills and spills, Chicago style.

The gig is in aid of the cash-strapped Bluebell Ridge cattery, and if the popularity of the band's previous shows are anything to go by, this should be a night not to miss.

Soul-X-Press are renowned across the UK for their energy and enthusiasm, transporting the audience back to the days when up-tempo swing was king and wearing sunglasses indoors was as cool as it gets.

So dust off your dancing shoes and head down to Venuu for a top night out all in aid of a really good cause.

And to quote the Blues Brothers: "Please remember people, that no matter who you are and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there are still some things that make us all the same."

Wise words indeed.

Tickets are 5 in advance from the Information Centre or the cattery, or 6 on the door. It kicks off at 8pm.
