A police officer was injured after being attacked while attending a ‘domestic incident’ in Bexhill last night (Thursday, January 28).

Officers were called at around 6.45pm to Wickham Avenue to reports of a fight between a man and a woman.

A 67-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of ABH.

However, while the woman was being arrested the man, a 43-year-old, punched an officer.

Andrew Neri, 43, of Wickham Avenue has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He will appear at magistrates court on February 17.

The woman has been released without charge.

An eye witness told the Observer there were eight marked police cars, a CCTV unit and an undercover police car at the scene.
