A ‘prolific’ burglar from Bexhill has been jailed for 20 months.

Lee Johnson, 22, appeared for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court last Wednesday (February 10).

Unemployed Johnson, of London Road, Bexhill, had pleaded guilty to entering a property in Amherst Road, Bexhill, between December 18 and 21 last year to steal a laptop computer, jewellery and cash.

He also admitted entering a property in St James’s Road, Bexhill, on 13 December to steal computer equipment, jewellery and cash.

Johnson asked for 18 other burglaries committed in Bexhill, Hastings and St Leonards between October and December last year to be taken into consideration.

In addition to jailing Johnson for 20 months, Judge Charles Kemp ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £100 and revoked a partially completed community order.

Detective Constable Dom Witham, of the Priority Crime Team, said: “Following a series of burglaries in the area and a painstaking investigation by police Johnson was arrested and admitted being responsible.

“It is reassuring that he has now been jailed.”
