The 1066 Cruisers Car Show has moved to the new venue of Bewl Water on Sunday August 2.

The venue is off the A21 at Lamberhurst and the gates open to the public at 10am.

Having lost the popular and local Horns Corner Show field at Catsfield after their last successful show in 2013, the locally-based 1066 Cruisers Hot Rod and Custom Car club committee have been hard at work searching for another suitable show venue.

Chairman, Kim freeman said: “It’s been a struggle finding a new venue that was available on dates which suited the car show season calendar.

“My main concern is whether the local public, who have loyally supported us over the past years, will be willing to travel the extra distance to the new venue and continue to support us in raising money for charities.

“This year’s recipients are Demelza Children’s Hospice, Diabetics U.K. and Anna McNaughton Communication Aid.”

He added: “Bewl Water is a great venue, especially for a family, there are many other activities apart from looking at cars available on site.

“You can take a boat trip across the reservoir or hire a cycle. There is an on-site cafe and bar, plus we will have a burger wagon selling the usual fare plus tea, coffee and soft drinks.

“There will be kids’ rides and traders’ stalls plus the return of the ever-popular John Price as our compere and Dave his assistant D.J. providing information and music throughout the day.

”To, bring the show to a close there will be the very popular sound-off competition and prize-giving.

“Public entry prices are being held at £5 per adult and £2 per child under 16.”

Traditionally, the 1066 Cruisers’ Midsummer Picnic show attracts a wide variety of entries from across the South East, ranging from hotrods and dragsters to motorcycles and American classics.
