The committee of the Bexhill branch of the East Sussex Disability Association was “delighted” to attend a presentation by the Bexhill Lions Club at the De La Warr Pavilion.
The Lions Club president, June Hough, presented a cheque for the “magnificent” sum of £600.
ESDA’s chairman, Anne Kellett, speaking on behalf of the committee, then thanked the Lions Club, expressing their gratitude for such a generous donation and highlighting how it would provide much needed funds to enable the association to continue to subsidise lunch outings for its members.
Jim McGlynn, who had liaised with the groups fundraisers Bunny Druce and Megan Traice, said: “That is what the Lions Club is all about.
We exist to help our local community and we are pleased that we are able to help.”
The Bexhill Lions Club has been meeting the needs of the local community for over forty years.
This are a group of local people who want to give something back to the community and ‘make a difference.’
Bunny Druce said: “They have certainly made a difference to Bexhill’s ESDA and we will raise a glass to them on our next outing.”
Bexhill’s ESDA has around 60 members and the group go out and about on the second Friday of the month from March to December.
They enjoy a ride around followed by lunch at local hotels and restaurants. As with ESDA’s other active local groups’ door to door transport is provided to members.
