Expect the usual and unusual with Equus
Preview: Equus, The Stables Theatre, The Bourne, tomorrow (Friday) until April 17, 7.30pm.
In keeping with the usual high quality of performances at the popular Old Town venue, The Stables this week begins its run of Equus by Peter Shaffer.
Following the story of child psychiatrist Martin Dysart who agrees to take on new patient Alan Strang, Equus is an award-winning play and one not to be missed.
In it, Dysart expects his new client to be just "one more dented little face...the usual unusual". However, what he does not foresee is the subsequent voyage into the realms of a psyche so profane and intense that it will leave him a shattered man, envying the very passion he is duty bound to eradicate, and questioning not only the world around him but his own place in it.
Under the direction of Zola Thomas and Zoe Morgan, the Tony Award winner for best play in 1975, remains an unforgettable piece of theatre. As powerful as it is provoking, its memory and its message will stay with you a lifetime.
The play contains adult themes and nudity and tickets are 12 for adults or 7 for members, under 18s or groups.
There are daily performances until Saturday, April 17 - excluding Sunday and Monday.
