A man carrying out work on a tree had to be rescued after he became pinned by one of the branches.

The emergency services were called to the incident in Stonehouse Drive just before 4pm on Thursday, September 3.

Firefighters from Hastings secured the man to the tree to ensure he did not fall before the Rope Rescue Units, based at Battle and Bexhill fire stations, lowered him to the ground.

The rescue took about an hour.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
