Folk-funk from leading guitarist

Richard Thompson

Richard Thompson

Guitarist Richard Thompson is bringing his brand of folk-funk to the De La Warr Pavilion, in Bexhill, on March 7.

Richard Thompson OBE is one of the UK’s leading guitarists and songwriters.

Originally part of Fairport Convention, his songs have been covered by everyone from Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant, REM and Loudon Wainwright III.

For this tour, he has spawned almost a new genre-folk-funk.

The Guardian says, of his new album: “Richard Thompson is still at the top of his game, a remarkable guitarist and songwriter driven by a furious passion and urgency”.

Rolling Stone Magazine has hailed him as ‘a perennial dark-horse contender for the title of greatest living rock guitarist’.

He was awarded the Orville H Gibson award for best acoustic guitar player in 1991, has won an Ivor Novello Award, and, in 2006, a lifetime achievement award from BBC Radio.

Tickets are £25/£27 and available from the box office on 01424 229111 or visit www.dlwp.com.
