Go go go to the holiday rock

Back in the days before Gladiators and Baywatch added an arousing lycra tinge to Saturday nights, they were all about two women.

First you had Michelle from Allo Allo, with her alluring (albeit slightly questionnable) French accent and maids outfit. Then there was Ruth Madoc in her almost scandalously short skirts – a Welsh beauty who pre-dated Charlotte Church and Sophie Evans by more than two decades.

A heavenly, lovely woman who dominated my day-dreaming throughout my formative years.

For that reason I will be definitely heading to the White Rock later this month for the visit of Hi-de-Hi (Mon, June 28 until Saturday, July 3).

Ruth Madoc aside, it is one of the best remembered TV sitcoms of all time and starred a whole host of much-loved characters during its nine series run on the BBC in the 1980's.

It went on to be adapted for the stage and was last seen in the West End in 1984.Now, in 2010 it makes a return.

This brand new stage production will star Barry Howard and Nikki Kelly who were in the original sitcom as Barry and Yvonne.

Peter Amory, who played Chris Tate in Emmerdale for 14 years, joins them, as does the ever-popular Damian Williams who is the new presenter on Sky One's Are You Smarter Than Your Ten-Year Old?

Also in the line-up is Abigail Finley, who was a semi-finalist in the BBC's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria.

So whether you are a Maddock fan or not, don't miss the chance to see one of the most nostalgic, funny and highly memorable shows around.

Tickets cost from 13 to 20, with concessions and group rates available.
