Hastings And District Anglo-French Club

Our celebration of the fête des rois, the French equivalent of Twelfth Night was a very lively afternoon full of interesting facts and entertaining stories. The high point was sharing the traditional galette des rois. In the traditional manner, each of our galettes had a fève (small trinket) hidden in it. The person who found the first one became our king and donned his crown to reign over us for the rest of the afternoon. He was ably assisted by the “queen” who had found the other fève in the other galette.

Our next meeting should be just as lively because it is the fête Saint Vincent when we celebrate wine with some tasting. There will be three kinds of wine from three different areas of France.

Anyone with an interest in French language and culture is welcome to join us at the usual place and time – 2 30 to 4 pm, Holy Redeemer church hall in Upper Church Road, St Leonards.
