A four-year-old boy suffering from haemophilia has been given £200 towards a dream holiday by Bexhill’s biggest employer.

Hastings Direct made the donation to the young lad, who lives in Hastings, after hearing about him through the firm’s A Helping Hand scheme.

There are more than 6,000 haemophiliacs in the UK and the disease predominantly affects boys and men and sufferers risk severe bleeding from injuries as their blood clots more slowly than normal.

The Hastings ex-boxers association is spearheading the fundraising effort for the youngster and plant to fund a family trip to Disneyland Paris.

Danny Stupple, vice president of Hastings Ex-Boxers, thanked everyone who had helped so far. He said: “The generosity of local businesses like Hastings Direct to help young George – one of our member’s grandson – has been overwhelming.”

Hastings Direct’s A Helping Hand makes financial, professional and physical support available to the community. Each month the firm offers either professional support from its 1,700 plus staff, or physical support with team building days.
