Popular DJ Soulman Sam has hit the right note again with his popular sell-out Motown & Soul dance night at the Manor Barn.

He raised £800 for Bexhill Gateway Club and £250 from a raffle will go to the ‘Deep Tube Well’ project in Southern Bangladesh.

Bexhill Gateway is a social club for adults with learning disabilities which has been running for 40 years.

Sam said: “I’m delighted to have raised a good sum for Bexhill Gateway, and I’m sure the money will be put to good use.”

Siobhan Dowling who helped run the raffle commented: “All credit to Sam not only thinking about the needs of our own community but for those in the third world. A deep tube well can provide a village of 3,000 with fresh safe drinking water. The little nuns from the Oxford mission who oversee the project will certainly offer a prayer of thanks to Sam for his support.”

A great night was had by all according to Jackie Stevens, who is Sam’s partner. and added: “Sarah Murphy from Hastings who took her family said - Sam’s music was fantastic, and I don’t think my mum and dad left the dance floor all night. Another fan, Jess Webb from Billinghurst, said - I’d heard of Sam’s discos from friends. I was not disappointed. If I could have bought tickets for his next one I would have done. It was an awesome night.

“Kind-hearted Sam is always on the look out for local charities he can fundraise for. The only criteria he has is that money he raises must go directly for the benefit of those that use the charity. The charity must be passionate and enthusiastic about what it is doing, just as he is about his music - you’ve got to have soul.”
