Bexhill Rotary club has supported three local charities with funds the community helped them raise at Christmas with the street and store collections also from Ale & Arty 2015.
The first donation was for St Michael’s Hospice Phoenix Appeal and last week Club President and Immediate Past President John Coles visited The Hospice and met with Hospice Head of fundraising Marcia Dart.
He presented to her a cheque for £500 with the assurance that Bexhill Rotary wished to provide further support towards the running of the Hospice from this year’s fundraising activities.
The second charity was Bexhill Caring Community which, through its team of volunteers, offers a multitude of services for the housebound and lonely of all ages including shopping, sitting, visiting, library, equipment loan, form filling, odd jobs, home help and gardening, general caring, the voluntary car service and Dial-a-Ride.
The charity, which has its base in Sackville Road, received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2006 and has been helping those in the need in the Bexhill area for over 50 years.
President Raouf Oderuth met up with Jackie Haggerty who is in charge of Bexhill Caring Community at the office. On receiving the cheque for £500, Jackie - after expressing her grateful thanks to Bexhill Rotary Club - explained that the charity had big plans for the future and this donation would be a great help in achieving those objectives.
Jackie also mentioned that Bexhill Caring Community is urgently looking for a part time driver for their day centre minibus on Wednesdays so if anybody can spare a couple of hours in the morning and/or afternoon then she would very happy to hear from them on 01424 215116.
