Here comes summer

It was definitely a case of Flaming June last weekend as Bexhill basked in swarm sunshine and crowds flocked to the town and beaches to enjoy what’s hoped to be the start of a long hot summer.

On Sunday hundreds of people were out and about strolling on the prom, sunbathing, riding bikes, and enjoying beach barbecues along Bexhill’s spectacular coastline.

Cafes were doing a roaring trade with people queuing up at the many sea front favourites including the Old Bathing Hut and the Sovereign Light cafe, partaking of ice creams, sandwiches and afternoon tea and cakes.

The month long Bexhill Festival of Music continued over the weekend with various events throughout the town and No.48 Devonshire Road drew both local residents and visitors to listen to the live music on offer.

On Sunday afternoon spectators along the seafront were treated to a fly past from two World War II fighter aircraft as part of the continuing 70th anniversary D-Day celebrations.

Bexhill is gearing up for a summer of fun in the sun with a packed social calendar and long may the sun shine down.
