Bexhill youngsters were out and about on Father’s Day taking advantage of the free Bikeability Taster Day on the De La Warr Pavilion’s Southern terrace.
The event took place during National Bike Week as part of the government backed training scheme that’s set to get more people on their bikes, cycling more often and more safely, attracted 20 children keen to improve their cycling skills.
The course was run by Denise Lomas of Cyclesafe and 1066 Cycle Group assisted by Bexhill Wheelers.
Ian Hollidge, Bexhill Wheelers, said the event was a great success, adding: “The aim was to teach safe cycling learning how to balance, steer and stop while still in control. Bikeability is a national standard replacing the old cycling proficiency, which many schools undertake.
“The children made progress after each activity - designed to make it enjoyable and fun as well as learning a new skill. Smiles all around from the children with parents appreciating the event.”
